Bison Symposium

Geoff Cunfer and Bill Waiser have organized a multidisciplinary Bison symposium titled “The Geography of Place: From Buffalo Dominion to Agricultural Empire” to be held at the University of Saskatchewan this month. The symposium has received funding from the Network in Canadian History and Environment (NICHE), the Interdisciplinary Centre for Culture and Creativity (ICCC) at UofS, and from Larry Stewart’s SSHRC Strategic Knowledge Cluster Grant (“Situating Science”)

The purpose of this symposium is to discuss a series of papers written on the subject of long term bison decline in Canada, with the ultimate product being a collected book edited by Geoff Cunfer and Bill Waiser. Both Geoff Cunfer and Matt Todd will contribute chapters.
