Dr. Sara Gregg Visits the HGIS Lab

Environmental and agricultural historian Sara Gregg visited the HGIS Lab on December 16-17, 2014. Gregg, who is a history professor at the University of Kansas, was in town to act as external examiner on Andrew Dunlop’s dissertation defense. Tuesday was spent in the lab, during which time member’s of the lab met with her and discussed one another’s current research projects. In the afternoon of the 16th, Gregg gave a presentation to members of the history department, entitled “Mapping the Homestead Act: An Environmental History of U.S. Land Policy.” Gregg’s new project relies heavily on HGIS methodology.
